Safety for Supervisors Training

This course is designed to provide a broad outline of some of the main areas that fall under the large umbrella of occupational safety, health and environmental management. The information included in this course is therefore of a general nature to provide persons with insight into the general principles used to establish a sound SHE programme framework.

Course outline

By the end of the course, the successful learner will understand:

the role and function of a supervisor
the basic principles of effective communication
the theories underlying the NOSA Five Star System
the main components of the NOSA Five Star System
common causes of incidents and basic prevention techniques
the legal requirements concerning the employer’s basic duties and responsibilities
hazards and risks associated with a workplace
general principles of occupational health in the workplace, including the functions of OHS personnel
environmental awareness and waste management
basic understanding of fire management in the workplace
an overview of management responsibility.
