These persons are able to receive stock in a distribution centre (DC)/warehouse, implement security procedures to prevent shrinkage and losses and enhance the efficiency of the supply chain by recording required information on stock being received.

This course is aligned to the outcomes of SAQA unit standard 242999, but is not a SETA accredited course. On completion of this course, candidates will be able to identify and assess the risk of a potential spill, confine a spill should it happen and evaluate the incident to ensure a correct, safe clean up. They are also able to complete the required documentation in accordance with organisational procedures.

The person credited with this unit standard is able to use gangway signals by selecting the correct position and signal equipment according to operational requirements. This programme is aimed at candidates who undertake the picking and packing functions within the warehouse. The course content delivered covers picking, packing and stock-taking processes and procedures, the effect that incorrect packing has on the customer and the effect that incorrect picking and packing has on business profitability.

The purpose of this course is to establish the role of the Food Safety Team and its members in the food safety processes within the workplace and to provide the delegates with the practical knowledge of the fundamentals of good practice and safe food handling and provide a detailed look at the core concepts of food hygiene.

The person credited with this unit standard is able to identify goods that require special temperature control and storage and need to be monitored with reference to freight integrity. Learners are also able to implement the correct hygiene and safety measures when working with temperature-controlled goods.
