Accredited Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)

This programme develops the learner’s ability to identify workplace hazards, assess occupational health and safety risks, select appropriate assessment methods and recommend practical control measures. It supports a proactive approach to risk management and helps build safer, better-informed workplaces.

Course outline

The qualifying learner is capable of:

  • explaining the relevant legal requirements to conduct Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) inspections.
  • planning Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) inspections.
  • conducting inspections to identify non-compliance in the workplace.
  • reporting on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) inspections.

Formative assessment

Various activities will be completed during class as well as for homework.

Summative assessment

Written assessment and practical exercise to be completed at the end of course.

Equipment Required for E-Learnng and Webinar Courses

Access to a laptop with a working camera and microphone is required for all accredited e-learning and webinar courses. This lets our invigilator proctoring tool activate during summative assessments to monitor compliance with assessment rules.
