Workplace Safety Doesn’t Happen by Accident
The South African government established the National Occupational Safety Association (NOSA) in 1951 to improve workplace safety. At the time, the country had recorded 4.1 deaths and disabling injuries per 200,000 employee hours. Within 25 years, this number dropped to 1.1.
Over 70 years later, NOSA – now SafetyCloud – remains the industry leader in occupational health, safety, and environmental training. We’ve helped over 20,000 businesses to build their safety cultures and create healthy, happy work environments.
These businesses have not only decreased accidents in the workplace, but they’ve also cut costs and improved their B-BBEE scorecards.
Looking to the future:
The journey from NOSA to SafetyCloud
Initially a free service to industry, NOSA was privatised in 2005, and in 2018, it was bought by the Carlyle Group, which kickstarted its digital transformation.
In recognition of the growing need for occupational safety professionals and the need for new skills to address the changing nature of work, SafetyCloud now offers 100+ online courses. Delivered via a powerful digital platform, SafetyCloud Online Training Solutions makes it possible for anyone to start a career in workplace safety, in their own time, at their own pace.
Our state-of-the-art e-learning capabilities allow us to reach more learners in more locations. We continue to offer tailored on-site training and classroom-based teaching at 15 NOSA Colleges throughout South Africa.
