SafetyCloud is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the Lebalelo Water User Association (LWUA), which recently scooped a prestigious NOSA regional award for the Northern Region in its inaugural year of formal grading.
During an official ceremony held on 23 October 2024 at the LWUA Operational Headquarters in Modubeng, Limpopo, the organisation officially received its NOSA 4-star grading certificate alongside ISO certifications for Quality Management (9001), Environmental Management (14001), and Occupational Health and Safety (45001).
Competing across the mining, manufacturing and commercial sectors, LWUA emerged as the top performer against companies that had been assessed on the rigorous CMB253 grading system in the last year and had achieved four platinum stars.
In his speech, NOSA’s Technical Manager Auditing, Mr Johan Rheeder, thanked LWUA for partnering with NOSA and NQA in building a resilient safety culture based on NOSA’s framework. He commended LWUA’s efforts since embracing the NOSA system, highlighting its inclusion of key role-players in its rollout, the commitment of the leadership team, the implementation of behaviour change initiatives and going the extra mile to identify and control risk.
“By identifying, understanding and articulating risks, while defining clear strategies to manage them effectively, LWUA lays a foundation for informed decision-making, improved safety agility, incident prevention and organisational resilience,” said Rheeder.
In his keynote address, LWUA CEO Bertus Bierman, spoke of the organisation’s remarkable journey from facing potential disestablishment to emerging as a recognised leader in bulk raw water infrastructure construction, operation and maintenance. Bierman further emphasised the integration of SHEQ into LWUA’s culture, noting that it has become a core part of the organisation’s identity and decision-making processes.
LWUA’s Chairperson Mr Johan Jansen, added, “This achievement reflects the dedication of the entire LWUA team and our shared commitment to SHEQ excellence. Our partnership with NOSA and NQA is a testament to the power of collaboration in reaching new milestones.”
